As it is that time of the year for summer internship interviews, here are some quick tips and tricks I have heard and learned along the way~
Phone Interview: Dress the part. The old fashioned "dress for the job you want, not the job you have" saying can go a long way! You will sound and feel more professional if you are dressed to impress. Schedule it at a time when you know that you will be able to answer and keep your voicemail simple and sophisticated.
Resume: stick to one page and keep it relevant! This is not a place to exaggerate.
Getting the job: Network and use your contacts.
Say thank you: write a HANDWRITTEN thank you note. A journalism teacher once told me that one of his students applied for an amazing job in D.C. out of 300 applicants. They said she got the job because she was the only one who wrote a thank you note.
Research: Study the person and company your are about to interview with so you will know why you would be perfect for the job.
Most importantly relax and be yourself! If one application does not work out, there are many more options to choose from!
